House extension project in Redbridge received planning consent

Situated in the Aldersbrook Conservation Area, adjacent to Wanstead Park, the design takes a sensitive approach to complement the character of the conservation area. The emphasis on natural materials connects the extension to its surroundings, drawing inspiration from the nearby park.

Season's Greetings

This year's Christmas card, The Wall Christmas Tree, commemorates the 35th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall. The graphics takes inspiration from the iconic album cover of The Wall by Pink Floyd. And from our experience working on existing and heritage, we've learned that sometimes it's about removing, rather than adding.

Site progress in Kensington

Our latest residential project, the upgrade of two residential units, is located in Coleherne Court, a heritage mansion block that was built between 1901 and 1904 in red brick and Portland stone. Nowadays, it's part of the Kensington conservation area. Housing 213 luxury apartments, the building includes three blocks between private landscaped gardens. Lady Diana Spencer lived at 60 Coleherne Court in Earls Court, from July 1, 1979, until February 23, 1981.

Season's Greetings

In honour of a Queen so dear,
We designed a Christmas card this year.
A geometric crown, so bold and grand,
Reminds us of her royal stand.

She ruled with grace, with dignity and poise,
A symbol of strength, a symbol of joys.
Though she is gone, her legacy lives on,
In our hearts and minds, forever strong.

From all of us at Guarnieri Architects,
We send our love and warm embrace.
Merry Christmas, happy New Year,
May love and laughter fill your days, my dear.

Blender Conference 2022

Balázs attended the Blender Conference 2022 in Amsterdam, where he had the opportunity to learn about the latest developments in 3D technology and their applications in architecture. The presentations and workshops showcased a broad range of industries and their use of the software. The conference was also a place to meet and network with likeminded people who share their passion for 3D technology.

We believe that great ideas emerge by linking different disciplines, and we are excited to see how these newly made connections develop.

Listed Building Consent for Abady House

We are delighted to share the news that we obtained Listed Building Consent for the complete upgrade of a flat in Abady House, which forms part of Grosvenor Estate in Pimlico. The social housing development, designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens, was built between 1929 and 1935.

During the historic research, we found that the bathtub was located in the kitchen in the original lay-out. At the time of its construction, a private bath was the luxury of upper-class households, while social housing blocks were conceived without them. As the culture around personal hygiene evolved, bathtubs found their way into more homes. However, lacking a dedicated space, often the most convenient place for the bathtub was in the kitchen, where it could be used for various purposes. Apart from personal cleaning it also served as a sink, draining board, laundry and worktop with its cover on.
